明若曉溪 Moon River

on

Alright after watching some of this drama, I highly speculate that this was to promote the boys from the boy band SpeXial even if there’s only like two of them in there. 明若曉溪 Moon River is one of those cliche, F4-like dramas except with a much stronger female lead (literally stronger, she is a martial artist) and three guys. I think Pets Tseng is and okay actress, maybe a bit overacting but generally it’s alright. Mu Liu Bing on the other hand… I don’t care how cute he is, it feels like a high school boy band member trying really hard to act and an adult. His character Lin Zi Hong, isn’t particular charismatic to begin with, he has the same expression most of the time, not to mention the drama is already really draggy. The way his character faces his problems are just immature. For some reason, directors like putting Pets and Liu Bing together but I really think there are better pairings for the two of them.

This drama reminds me of another train wreck, The Heirs, where a bunch of rich kids are dealing with really stupid problems and insisting on marriage in a college setting and the parents are just as ridiculous, arranging a marriages without any consideration for others. Of course Pets’s character, Ming Xiao Xi, is the one that gets target by the bullies but also attracts the attention of the most popular boys. The bullies consists of a bunch of princesses who are ridiculously unreasonable. The whole story feels like it was put together by some kid and none of the cast has been really strong. Maybe there is something great that I haven’t caught onto yet in this drama, I’d be glad to hear what other people think of one as well.
